Assigning properties to contacts

Want to see the answers of a specific group of contacts? That's possible if you create these groups. To do this, you can assign information (so called 'properties') to your contacts. Assigning properties can be done by adding extra columns to your Excel- or CSV-file (large amount of contacts, many properties at once).

Assigning properties via CSV-file or Excel

You can assign properties to a large amount of contact at once. To do this, add extra columns to your CSV or Excel file. The standard columns in your file are first name, last name and emailaddress. From column D, you can create extra columns like Salutation, Location, Agent or Clienttype.

The following three steps will help you:

Step 1: Make sure you create an Excel-file with the first three columns containing Firstname, Lastname and Emailaddress. These are necessary for the tool to recognise the contact. Even when you don't know or use a first- or last name, it's still important to create these columns. You can leave them empty, as long as you add them.

Step 2: Enrich your file by adding the preferred properties in the columns D and further. The first row (D1, E1, etc.) always contains the column title, the property. 
For example, add Agent to the file and add the right name to each contact to the file. Often, this type of information can be exported from your CRM-system. Make sure you're consistent in how the name of the Agent name is written. The system is sensitive to capital letters and won't recognize the same agents when written differently.

Step 3: Save the file as an Excel-file or CSV-file. Both types can be uploaded in the tool. The uploaded file can directly be used in the tool to send your invitations to. 

When your form is all ready to use and your client file with properties is complete, you can invite your clients in three simple steps. By clicking on the Invite button behind the right form, you will enter the first step of the invite module. You can immediately upload your complete CSV- or Excel-file here:

You can upload the file here, or copy/paste cells with data of a few clients from the file. Make sure you copy/paste the first row (with column titles) as well!

Note: The file with contacts and properties will be saved in the tool after the invitations are sent. Before that, you are always able to leave the invite module and start over.
