How to Create Sender Addresses

The Sender Addresses feature lets you create alias email addresses to use as the sender for your survey invitations.

This makes it easy to send surveys from a branded, professional-looking address such as [email protected] or [email protected].

Access permissions

Only users with the access right “Can create and edit sender addresses” can manage this section.

If you do not see the Sender Addresses tab in your Company Settings, contact your Starred administrator to update your permissions.

Why use an alias sender address

Alias sender addresses offer several benefits:

  • You don’t need to create a new user in Starred for every sender.
  • Alias addresses don’t need to exist or have an inbox – you can create them directly in Starred.
  • They are quick to edit or replace, for example, changing [email protected] to [email protected].
  • You can assign different aliases to match different communication types or teams (for example, HR vs. Recruitment).
  • They ensure that you'll continue sending surveys as the sender address isn't tied to a specific user, which could be removed

How to create a sender address

Follow these steps to add a new alias sender:

  1. Contact Starred Support to add your preferred email domain (for example, @yourcompany.com) to your account.
  2. Go to Company Settings → Sender addresses.
  3. Click Create new sender.
  4. Enter:
    • A Name (this will appear as the sender name in the email).
    • The Email address you want to use.
  5. (Optional) Enable:
    • Firefight notifications (alerts for low NPS scores)
    • Feedback notifications (when feedback is received)

Only enable these if the address is a real inbox and actively monitored.

  1. Click Save to complete setup.
  2. You’ll then be prompted to upload a logo for your sender (see below).
    • Recommended size: at least 150 × 150 pixels
    • Use a square image to avoid cropping issues
    • If you want to use your company logo, ensure it’s square-shaped (Starred does not automatically resize it like your main company profile image).
